Brewing Utensils and Tools
Ask any butcher, baker, or candlestick maker what is most important to the quality of their work and they will tell you two things, the excellence of the raw materials and the quality of their tools. Poorly designed or undersized kitchen wares can ruin the best of ingredients regardless of your skill level. The enemy is distraction brought on by frustration. The solution is the right tool for the job.
Brewing Spoons and Paddles
Brew spoons can be stainless steel or heavy plastic but should not be wood or aluminum. The spoon will not spend much time in your beer but it will only take a second for unwanted bacteria to replace the flavors you want with some truly awful stuff. Your spoon must be long enough to reach the bottom of the brew pot without your hand going below the rim. This will also avoid burning your fingers.

The material used in its construction should be sturdy enough to withstand the weight of the substance being transferred, and it should not react with the substance.

The S/S Mix-stir (stainless steel) has an un-breakable steel rod and the same plastic, hinged blades as the original, so it is safe to use with glass carboys. It will also fit any variable speed hand drill. We recommend that you use our drilled Glass Carboy Airlock Stopper with the Stainless Steel Mix Stir to protect the neck of the carboy. Simply insert the shaft through the stopper prior to attaching it to the drill. |
